If there is one thing to know about a presentation by Rodney Bridge, it is that it has a lasting impact on audiences of all ages. Lived experience makes for the most impactful presentations and, sadly, Rodney’s is a story that has touched the minds and hearts of parents, students, workers and corporates worldwide. In Western Australia alone, his presentation has reached over 255,000 students and in excess of 27,000 parents since late2015. National and international presentations have reached executives and staff from some of the country’s most prestigious mining companies, US law enforcement, education institutions and high-profile businesses. In each instance, powerful and positive feedback indicates a lasting impact on the audience.

Rodney’s presentation's to the largest mining companies in Australia have left the audience speechless. Testimonials from parents, teachers, students and corporates have described the presentation as the most powerful, informative, emotional, and heartbreaking event they have attended. His presentations have been hailed as one of the best Alcohol and Drug presentations seen by secondary students, parents and corporates all over the world.

Rodney’s presentation tells the story of Preston Bridge, a very likable 16-year-old that jumped from a second-storey balcony at a popular resort in Scarborough, WA after his Churchland’s Senior High School Year 12 school ball.  Preston had taken a research chemical drug known as 25INbome, a powerful psychedelic drug that caused him to hallucinate and jump to his death.

Following Preston’s death, Rodney wanted answers about where the drug came from. In October 2015 he travelled to China where the manufacturers of the research chemical operated. With a news crew from 60 Minutes Australia, he exposed the drug cartel and, after the undercover operation went viral around the world, the Chinese Government and Law enforcement agencies intervened. As a result, 21,000 people were arrested, over 1,500 factories and offices were closed.  5,000,000 (five million) social media sites were blocked, 248 websites were investigated and a further 116 research chemical drugs were banned from manufacturing and placed on the narcotics list in China.

In an effort to educate as many people as possible about the very real dangers of illicit drugs and the impact ‘one choice’ can have on an entire family and friends circle, Rodney painstakingly created a package which he could present to groups from school age through to corporate employees and executives.

The presentation consists of an opening introduction followed by a 20-minute powerful and informative video.  After viewing the video, the audience can meet Rodney Bridge, the father of Preston. Rodney tells the heart-wrenching story about losing his son as well as his (somewhat dangerous) exploits in China where he was instrumental in exposing and closing down the drug sites.

Rodney explains what some of the drugs actually are, what they are made of and what can happen if you take them. As an option, he opens the floor to questions and answers from the audience. The duration of the presentation can be tailored for between45 minutes and 2 hours. In a school environment it is common to present to the whole school - Year 8 to Year 12.

Rodney’s story has been viewed by over 1.4 billion people worldwide and he was a finalist for the 2023 Australian of the Year. He removed his nomination upon being hospitalised for a back injury.  Having recovered, he has returned to the speaking circuit and is continuing to educate and inform.

This is a presentation that all students and parents need to view. ‘Inspirational’ and ‘inspiring’ are the words most used to describe the experience.  What better way to educate than to tell a true story from the heart.
